    Simply Good Rice

A Comforting Side Dish from My Country Kitchen

There’s something so comforting about a simple plate of seasoned rice. This dish is made with fluffy long-grain rice, simmered gently in chicken broth, butter, sautéed onions, and a sprinkle of classic seasonings. It’s tender, flavorful, and the perfect side for just about any home-cooked meal. The broth adds richness, while the butter gives it that melt-in-your-mouth texture — it’s a humble dish that tastes like home. Whether served alongside roasted chicken or with a bowl of beans, this rice is always a family favorite around our table.

    Recipe

    Ingredients:

    • 2 cups long grain rice
    • 4 tablespoons butter
    • ½ cup diced onions
    • 3½ cups chicken broth
    • 1 chicken bouillon cube
    • Pepper, to taste
    • Cajun seasoning, to taste

    Instructions:

    1. In a large skillet or saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
    2. Add the diced onions and sauté until soft and translucent, about 3–5 minutes.
    3. Stir in the rice and cook for 2–3 minutes, letting it lightly toast in the butter.
    4. Pour in the chicken broth and add the bouillon cube. Stir well to dissolve.
    5. Season with pepper and Cajun seasoning to your taste.
    6. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for about 18–20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and has absorbed all the liquid.
    7. Fluff with a fork and serve warm.
