There’s something so comforting about a simple plate of seasoned rice. This dish is made with fluffy long-grain rice, simmered gently in chicken broth, butter, sautéed onions, and a sprinkle of classic seasonings. It’s tender, flavorful, and the perfect side for just about any home-cooked meal. The broth adds richness, while the butter gives it that melt-in-your-mouth texture — it’s a humble dish that tastes like home. Whether served alongside roasted chicken or with a bowl of beans, this rice is always a family favorite around our table.
Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups long grain rice
- 4 tablespoons butter
- ½ cup diced onions
- 3½ cups chicken broth
- 1 chicken bouillon cube
- Pepper, to taste
- Cajun seasoning, to taste
Instructions:
- In a large skillet or saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the diced onions and sauté until soft and translucent, about 3–5 minutes.
- Stir in the rice and cook for 2–3 minutes, letting it lightly toast in the butter.
- Pour in the chicken broth and add the bouillon cube. Stir well to dissolve.
- Season with pepper and Cajun seasoning to your taste.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for about 18–20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and has absorbed all the liquid.
- Fluff with a fork and serve warm.
